A native Chinese speaker, Ms. Gao graduated from the University of California, Irvine, with a bachelor’s degree in education and business economics. She has practiced Chinese calligraphy since the age of four. Since simplified Chinese is the predominant form in China, her background has enabled her to develop an understanding of both simplified and traditional Chinese. She is passionate about playing the piano, playing the Chinese traditional instrument Guzheng (known as the Chinese Harp), painting, and practicing Chinese Calligraphy. Prior to joining Harbor Day School, she taught Mandarin, Guzheng, and Chinese calligraphy to children and adult students in Orange County for four years. In her free time, she enjoys reading on the beach and spending time with her friends.
