Students in kindergarten through fourth grade attend physical education classes every day. The emphasis is on the natural progression of a child's physical, social, emotional, and intellectual growth and development. Throughout the child's education, a carefully planned sequence of movement patterns facilitates the development of motor tasks from simple to complex. The early stages of the program are centered around how the individual can learn about his or her own movement abilities. As the student matures, he learns to relate his knowledge and skills to others through group interaction. As part of the instructional program in fifth through eighth grades, all students participate as members of athletic blue or gold teams in year-long intramural sports competition. Students in sixth through eighth grades are invited to try out for the school's interscholastic athletic teams which participate in competition with other local area middle schools. Sports include volleyball, basketball, football, soccer, and track and field.
