Visual Arts at Harbor Day

The arts at Harbor Day School have a long-standing tradition of excellence. The mission of the visual arts program is to nurture a deep appreciation for the history, craftsmanship, and social significance of art. The students are provided with unique opportunities to explore materials and concepts that encourage innovative thinking. Hands-on lessons are created with an emphasis on problem solving, risk-taking, and self-expression. Students go on to compete and win in regional art competitions such as the Imagination Celebration at the Laguna Beach Festival of the Arts, The Arts Alive Festival in Mission Viejo, and Youth Art Month sponsored by The Council for Art Education (CFAE).

Students at Harbor Day School build a strong sense of creative well-being through the process of making art. Their artwork is proudly displayed throughout the school and the community. Museum visits and classroom discussions teach students to confidently discuss and analyze works of art. The Pillars of Character are woven into lessons that foster collaboration and cultivate social responsibility. Building on these characters, the program offers an Art Club in grades six throught eight whose primary focus is charitable work. Students graduate from Harbor Day School inspired. The accumulation of our K-8 art program provides students with an extensive knowledge in the arts.
