Lunch Happenings at HDS!

Harbor Day’s hot lunch program, run by Flik Dining, continues this year to provide students with fresh, nutritious meals each day. Students enjoy a selection of scratch-made entrées, sides, soups, salads, and deli options prepared with care and high-quality ingredients. According to Chef Andy Lord, “We’ve been listening to the students and taking some of the least popular items off the menu. And adding more popular items more frequently.” The team has also introduced a “fruit of the day” option for kindergarten. Chef Andy will be hosting an “Imposters” tasting on November 14, where students can try two different items and vote for their preferred option. Holiday-themed menus are also planned for November 20 and December 18.  

Some students feel very strongly about their favorite meals and what they enjoy the most. “I love, love, LOVE the hamburgers. I like that I can put my pickles on the side,” said Elliott B. (1st grade). Other popular meals include pasta days and chicken tenders, as William B. (1st grade) shared, “I like pasta days the best and chicken tenders.” Many students look forward to themed favorites such as Yakisoba Noodles and Taco Tuesdays. “My favorite hot lunch is the teriyaki bowls,” said Connor C. (2nd grade), while Hadley H. (3rd grade) added, “The quesadillas are really good.” Faculty members also join in on the enthusiasm, with Mrs. Matheson sharing, “Taco Tuesdays are the best! I also love when they make the Shepherd's pie,” and Mrs. Chiao noting, “I love the salad bar.”

The all-inclusive dining experience allows students to explore new foods, enjoy their favorite items, and even come back for seconds. Chef Andy and his team continue to listen to feedback and adjust the menu as needed to make sure lunchtime is a flavorful and nutritious part of everyone’s day.
