Admissions

Applying to Harbor Day

Thank you for your interest in Harbor Day School. We hope that you come and visit our school and learn what makes Harbor Day so special.

Harbor Day School seeks students who are intellectually capable, who show an enthusiasm for learning, and whose character contributes to the well being of the school community.

Harbor Day School will accept qualified students without regard to race, creed, color, religion, or national origin in any grade where vacancies are available.

All applicants take entrance exams to determine their academic aptitude and their ability to do work comparable to that of children in the same grade in an independent-school population. Admission to Harbor Day School is partly based on an evaluation of the applicant's performance on entrance tests. Other factors depending on grade level may include: report card for the past two academic years, a teacher recommendation form, and a half-day classroom visit. Qualified siblings of Harbor Day School students will receive priority acceptance, with the understanding that Harbor Day School may not be the appropriate school for all sibling applicants. Families who leave Harbor Day School for reasons other than graduation will not receive sibling priority. Children of alumni are given preference over non-sibling applicants when all other factors are equal.
