Tuition & Financial Aid

Invest in your child's future.

The annual tuition for a Harbor Day education is greatly recouped in the advantages of a private school education. Tuition allows Harbor Day to provide individualized attention, offer specialty classes as part of the regular school day, and have the time for a more advanced curriculum. The value of our private independent primary school is also demonstrated in the further success that Harbor Day alumni have in high school and college.

Beginning in 2018, a provision of the new tax code allows families to spend up to $10,000 per student annually from a 529 savings plan on K-12 education. This may be an option paying your child’s tuition.

Tuition & Financial Aid

Tuition rates for the 2018-2019 academic year.

Grades K-8: $23,350

An Enrollment Deposit of $1,500 must be submitted with the enrollment contract to reserve a place for your student. The deposit is applied to the tuition bill.

The balance of the tuition may be paid using one of three payment plan options:

One-Payment Plan: a tuition payment of $21,850 will be due on June 1, 2018.
Two-Payment Plan: tuition payments of $16,500 due on June 1, 2018, and $5,350 due on November 1, 2018.
Ten-Payment Plan: Ten monthly payments of $2,185 beginning on June 1, 2018 and concluding on March 1, 2019. Tuition refund insurance must be purchased for all 10-pay plans at an annual cost of $327.75 per student. The insurance premium will be payable on June 1, 2018.

Tuition Payments will be made through the Smart Tuition system. Smart Tuition accounts are established with the submittal of the enrollment contract and deposit.

Registration Fee (New Family/New Student)
A one-time non-refundable registration fee is due on or before June 1, 2018:
  • New Family - $1,500 when the first student in a family enrolls
  • New Student - $250 when the second (or more) student in a family enrolls
Tuition covers all books and supplies, after-school athletic team practices and events, field trips, yearbook, and fifth through eighth grade PE apparel and gear.

Uniforms and hot lunch are additional expenses.

Financial Aid
Harbor Day School grants financial aid to students whose families can demonstrate financial need. Grants are subject to availability of funds and based on a variety of factors.

An administrative committee makes financial aid recommendations and considers financial need based on a family's application submitted for independent assessment by School & Student Services by NAIS. Financial aid applications must be completed by February 1. Admission decisions are “need-blind.” This means that the applicant family’s financial need will not be taken into consideration during the decision process. All financial aid applications and decisions are administered by the school’s business office. All information is kept strictly confidential. Please direct any questions to Business Manager, Joan Coleman.

The deadline to apply for financial aid is February 1.
