What is new in Admission?

Our visiting families are continually impressed with our students and their engagement in the curriculum. That speaks volumes about our innovative teachers and the passion they have for teaching our students. The mission of Harbor Day School is to provide an academically challenging, well-balanced education in a nurturing and inclusive family-centered environment. Our faculty inspires curiosity and a desire to learn, and cultivates in students the confidence, strong moral character, and perseverance to thrive. We celebrate diversity and traditions, value collaboration and innovation, and cherish our community and the lifelong relationships developed.
Here is the process for admission:
  • Apply online at www.harborday.org
  • After submitting the online application, you may schedule a parent/guardian meeting. At this meeting, you will get a sneak peek of our current campus and see through the port holes a view of our new campus.
  • Teacher recommendations are due January 18.
  • Student assessments are in February.

The Community Open House is scheduled for January 8, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in our new building. We can’t wait to showcase our new space to prospective families. Each year, our middle school students sign up to become student ambassadors for the open house. These students will lead families around campus talking to them about classes, student life, and their favorite traditions.

Harbor Day School has a total of 410 students. Kindergarten is the main entry point with 44 openings. Sixth grade serves as a secondary entry point into Harbor Day School. We go from 44 students (two sections each with 22 students) in kindergarten through fifth grades up to 50 students (three sections each with 16 to 18 students) in sixth, seventh and eighth grades. Thus, Harbor Day opens six spots for sixth grade during the admission season. Our middle school (grades five through eight) offers a unique experience for Harbor Day students. We recognize the developmental stage of our students, and offer a supportive, nurturing environment with our dynamic faculty, small class size, and advisory program. Our alumni often return to Harbor Day espousing how they often recall their time in middle school with fondness and miss their teachers with whom they developed such close relationships.

Applications for admission can be found on our website and are due by Tuesday, January 18, 2022.
