Established in 1952, Harbor Day School gratefully celebrates its 70th birthday this year. As we reflect on our history, we consider how the school lives its motto, which is Gradatim ad Summum or Step-by-Step to the Top. The school has grown both in the size of its student body, the number of faculty and class offerings, and recently, we have grown in our physical space with the completion of phase 1 of our new campus project.
As we have grown, our commitment to simultaneously challenging and nurturing students in an atmosphere where they are known and cherished has not changed. Harbor Day students arrive on campus with energy and enthusiasm, and they are met by exceptional teachers who engage them with stimulating lessons. Harbor Day School students build relationships with their teachers and their classmates that often grow over decades and last for a lifetime. Founded as a community school, we continue to cherish our community of students, faculty, parents, and alumni.
The Harbor Day family includes our dedicated and professional faculty and staff, 412 current students, an involved and supportive parent body, and over 2000 alumni. We take great pride in our graduates, and we stay in touch with them through their academic careers in high school and college and beyond. We have an active Alumni Advisory Council, and many alumni send their own children to Harbor Day School. We boast of our alumni attending the finest colleges and universities in the
nation. Traditional events such as the Blue-Gold Track Meet, Back-to-School Picnic, and Turkey Bowl are great places for the entire HDS family to connect.
A visit to our school will allow you to see our new facility, meet our vibrant community, and learn more about our outstanding program. We look forward to meeting you.
Gradatim ad Summum,
