Physical Education is an important aspect of each student’s physical development in grades kindergarten through four. Daily PE classes place an emphasis on the natural progression of a child's physical, social, emotional, and intellectual growth and development. Throughout each child's education, a carefully planned sequence of movement patterns facilitates the development of motor tasks from simple to complex. The early stages of the program are centered around how the individual can learn about his or her own movement abilities and eventually relates the new found knowledge and skills to others through group interaction.
Upper School PE classes in grades five through eight continue three times a week with an emphasis toward organized games and activities. Specific units in areas such as volleyball, basketball, soccer, flag football, track and field, lacrosse, badminton, pickleball, and team handball are taught. Eighth grade students are exposed to a wide variety of elective activities including yoga, pilates, ultimate frisbee and unicycling!
