5 Questions with Mrs. Carter

1. What do you love the most about teaching (or working at HDS)?
I love that I get to learn something new every hour of every day. It might be from a colleague, a parent, or a student, but no matter who it is, I am always thankful for the reminder that my education is constantly evolving and getting better.

2. What is your favorite part of the school day? Why?
My favorite part of the day is recess. The time I spend with the kids at recess is really valuable to me because I can get to know the kids outside the classroom. Most of them are more talkative, more engaged in conversations with me, and I can see how they interact with friends and just simply, be kids.

3. How would you describe yourself as a child?
As a child, I was creative, curious, energetic, and a perfectionist. Basically, the exact same person!

4. What’s the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you while teaching (or at school)?
In 7th grade, I walked back into class from the bathroom with my dress tucked into my leggings. I accidentally shut the door really loudly, and the entire class turned to see who was coming in. It took a while for me to live that one down!

5. Tell us something that people might not know about you.
I'm a crafting addict! I love DIY projects and crafts. I love playing around with different ideas, materials, home decor, and fashion.

Bonus Question:

If you could pass on any wisdom to students, what would you share?
Don't be afraid to be different!
