Brian, Megan, and Christian from Powerhouse Dance lit up assembly on Wednesday, May 3 with their own brand of movement called percussive dance. Their style includes Irish step, tap, clogging, and stomp.
Students differentiated between percussion, rhythm, and tempo, learning that percussion is one strike, rhythm is a beat with a space in between, and tempo is the rate of motion.
Everybody clapped along while the performers demonstrated each style with help from willing audience volunteers.
Brian, the director of Powerhouse Dance, has been clogging, tapping, and stepping for 33 years and can be seen on The Gong Show later this month alongside his energetic team.
